Spring
This is one half of a large block of Italian Travertine marble, which is actually limestone. It represents the buds which plants develop in the spring time. It is 25 inches high by 17 inches wide by 22 inches deep. Spring was begun in Italy in 1994 and shipped to Canada where I finished it in my Calgary studio. It speaks of buds reaching for the sun in springtime. It is carved from a piece of travertine marble, a type of limestone. Because of its porous nature and the ease with which it can be carved, travertine marble is often used for abstract work. The chisel digs deep and the stone breaks clean leaving whatever shape the sculpture desires. Price nfs See alternate view below
